Following a rather uninspiring meal at The Duncombe Arms when the new management first took over a month or so ago, we decided to visit them again this week. Well, I’m pleased to report that things have improved significantly. Firstly, they have a guest beer on; always a welcome sight. Secondly, the menu has changed for the better with a wider selection of dishes and some less eclectic flavours. The quality of the food is excellent and all is freshly prepared. The menu now features some locally sourced produce as well. You can’t get much more local than lamb from Wood Farm which is in Waresely, literally a couple of hundred yards from the pub.
The starter I had was probably one of the best meals I’ve had at the Duncombe Arms under any management: praise indeed. So things are on the up and now they have a jazz evening coming up so I will report back after then.
