Do ducks sit in trees? Well, the answer surprisingly is, yes, they do go in trees, or at least the pair I saw today do!
I was walking up the road when two duck flew up from the large pond on the right. They circled round and headed to the stand of large trees on my left. Nothing unusual there, I hear you say! Well not yet….they continued on towards the trees and landed neatly on one of the upper branches. How they held on with their flat, webbed feet I have no idea, but hold on they did.
I walked on and when I returned some 20 minutes later one of them had gone. There was still one sitting in the tree but in a different location. I assume that it was one of the original pair but I had no way of knowing.
So, do ducks sit in trees? Well the answer has to be yes but I have never seen this before…..has anyone else? Let me know if you have.

PS – Since this post was originally done earlier in 2021, I have seen this happen a couple of times more, but only around Waresley. Maybe this is unique to the village or maybe it happens elsewhere and it’s just that I haven’t seen it.
