Birds….

Whilst walking up the Green Lane (aka the By-Way) yesterday morning, I notice a Red Kite circling overhead. This was unusual as this is Buzzard territory. A Red Kite was seen last year but it was mobbed by crows/rooks/jackdaws, with some help from the two buzzards that are resident in one of the local coverts, and it went away quickly.

As this Kite was low I could see it clearly. It was a mature bird with good markings and it glided gently in large circles at tree top level, slowly moving towards Manor Farm Road. Then a second bird appeared. Wow! Two Kites together and not a crow or buzzard to be seen.

They circled gently, with barely a wing movement, and slowly drifted away over towards the Tetworth Estate land to the west. A wonderful moment. Worth getting up early for…….
